Vermont’s three largest maker spaces will have members go head-to-head in this year’s FreshTracks Road Pitch at the Champlain Mini Maker Faire on September 22.

In a new format, The Generator, Rutland MiNT, and The Foundry will each select two members to pitch an idea or business at Vermont’s biggest annual Mini Maker Faire.

“Vermont’s maker spaces aren’t little start-ups anymore. Members are turning out truly innovative products, and bringing them to market,” says Doug Webster, board member at Burlington’s maker space, the Generator.

In previous years, any member of the public could register to deliver their pitch to Road Pitch at the Maker Faire. This year, the maker community is upping the ante by developing a competitive qualifying round within each maker space organization.

Maker Faire attendees can watch six makers vie for the bikers’ votes during the event’s new evening program: Saturday, September 22 from 6:00-9:30, at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn.

The winner gains entry into the Road Pitch finals at Champlain College in October, which offers a first place prize of $5,000 to take their venture to the next level.
